Guess what? The Celtic Classic just happened last Saturday, October 5th. It was an absolute blast! Here are a few thoughts from staff and members on the performance of the band and the success of our band competition:
“Students did really well with their jobs. They were very flexible and able to adjust on the fly when necessary as well as very helpful and kind to all visitors. After a long and stressful day, students performed very well in front of at least 700 spectators. They all had fun, killed it with their performance, and made the day awesome.” -Band Director Mr. Alford.
Here are some student thoughts on their performance and their experience at the Celtic Classic:
“The chicken fried rice was so good. For our performance, I thought I did pretty well, better than normal. 8/10 overall experience at Celtic. It was awesome being a band guide and distributing awards for the very first time! Very cool, very fun time!” -11th Grade Section Leader Eliana Guzman
“I really enjoyed walking around and helping out with the bands. Performing was one of the best experiences I’ve ever had in marching band, and I hope Celtic will continue to be the best competition ever!” -11th Grade Front Ensemble Section Leader Erin Hamilton
“My job at Celtic was really fun, but it was also really hectic! It was difficult, but I enjoyed talking to the other bands and bonding with their members. For my performance, I’d say it’s one of my best and if I could change anything, I would catch my rifle with both hands. I’d give it like a 7 or 8 out of 10.” -10th Grade Guard Quartermaster Priya Patel
Overall, the Celtic Classic was a very energetic and successful event this year. We raised a ton of money, directors and judges were very pleased, and some great bands performed for us. Tune in on October 19th to see your Marching Highlanders compete again at Bassett High School. We can’t wait to see you next year at hopefully another amazing Celtic Classic!
