In response to growing concerns of student vaping, Roanoke County Public Schools has decided to add vape detectors in every high school bathroom. At Glenvar High School, the vape detectors have been placed in every bathroom and locker rooms as well. These vape detectors have already caught tons of people while they have been installed. When a student vapes, the detectors can sense the concentration of irregular air particles.
According to school officials, vaping has become a massive issue, it has negatively impacted students in the classroom, causing them to not be able to focus as well. Some consequences of being caught vaping are in-school detention, after-school detention, suspension, and guidance with the counselor. The vape detectors were a great decision to be added, successfully catching all the students who attempt to vape in the bathrooms. It provides students with the support that they need to avoid vaping addiction. A drastic decrease of amount of students attempting to vape can be seen since the detectors were installed.
