Glenvar football has always been about passion and heart. We asked Coach Clifford, who is currently in his 18th season coaching the Highlanders, had this to say when it came to the impact of the community, band, and cheerleaders on Friday night lights in Highlander Heaven. “Having the stadium packed brings juice to our games, I think our players and coaches build off the energy that is brought from the fans.” Coach Clifford has always loved the band stating that even during the summer hearing them practice “makes the hair on his neck stand up” because he knows it is close to the start of the season. He also said how the cheerleaders make the atmosphere more electric and ready for success. The Highlanders are currently undefeated and will face the Patrick County Cougars this Friday at Highlander Stadium for the homecoming game. As far as games to watch, the team will hit the road to travel to Allegheny where they will face off against the undefeated Allegheny Cougars.
