Did you know that there’s a club that can teach you useful business skills while still having tons of fun? This club is called the FBLA, with Mrs. Benson. This club stands for Future Business Leader of America, where its main goal is to give students an opportunity to increase their business knowledge, leadership development, network with other students, and a chance for community service. There are so many opportunities that come from this club, like traveling for competitions. Mrs. Benson states, “We go up to Northern Virginia for the state competition, and the nationals is somewhere fun every year. This past year we went down to Orlando, Florida, this year it's in Anaheim, California.” Other opportunities include getting to meet students from many other schools and building your resume. Within this club, you can go on many field trips, which is part of a national organization. If you join, this fall you can go up to the NRV Super Bowl where you meet with other chapters in the Blue Ridge region. Mrs. Benson says that her favorite part about the club is, “seeing how involved the students get because it's a student led organization. So, I try to put as much on them to do, so it's as much or as little as they want to be involved. Some kids really take it and run with it, and it turns into something they really enjoy and it’s something that you can do in college.” If you want to get involved with this club, go to Mrs. Benson in room 207. It is a $15 fee to join, and you have to either be in a business class or have had a business class in the past. The best ways to stay informed is to join remind, follow the Instagram, or to just talk to Mrs. Benson or other members.
